You Can Make a Difference!
Our endangered planet needs our help and energy. Our civilization is threatened by dramatic increases in greenhouse gases which are raising global temperatures.
The forourgrandchildren.ca Challenge Series contains regularly updated, fun and informative activities for us to take on with our grandchildren to better understand and prepare for the effects of climate change. You can also see www.350.org for details about climate change and world-wide action.
Perhaps the most important thing you can do is contact key decision-makers by letter, email, telephone, fax or in person. We can commit ourselves to a minimum of one contact per month in which we require the person we contact to reply, and continue the dialogue if appropriate.
Strength in Numbers and Votes
We are outraged when we think what our grandchildren could face if governments do not deal with the climate crisis immediately. Today, annual subsidies to the fossil fuel industries world-wide total $235Billion, while the annual global military expenditures are $1,235Billion (Taylor, Evolution’s edge, p.60).
We need to send the strongest message to politicians at all levels as well as business leaders. We grandparents have tremendous strength in numbers; we can use this strength to get decision-makers to act.
