Doug Ford rammed it through — shutting down debate, ignoring First Nations leaders, and handing himself the unchecked power to override Ontario’s laws with the stroke of a pen.

At the centre of this bill? So-called “Special Economic Zones” — no-law zones where the Ford government can do whatever it wants, wherever it wants, whenever it wants.

Bill 5 gives the government sweeping authority to:

• Ignore the constitutional duty to consult First Nations.
• Override labour protections won through generations of organizing.
• Tear up environmental safeguards meant to protect our future.
• Shut communities out of decisions that directly impact their lives.
