The International Day of Climate Action: Oct 24, 2009

On 24 October, people in 181 countries came together for the most widespread day of environmental action in the planet’s history. At over 5200 events around the world, people gathered to call for action on the climate crisis. Over 22,000 photos have been submitted so far!  See them all on Flickr.

To make this global call to action count, it must be impossible to ignore. Sign up for a local photo-delivery today.

ForOurGrandchildren were active participants in one such rally at Queen`s Park in Toronto, Ontario.  Music, signs, posters, banners, influential speakers, and representation from a wide array of local groups who shared ideas and contact information helped make the event a success.  Together, we raised awareness and brought attention to the critical need for political decision-makers worldwide to take strong and decisive action in the face of a looming climate crisis.

Below is a brief video from the event:

Please send us any pictures or other videos you have from this event!

Ultimately, the true measure of the success of the International Day of Climate Action will be the change that it helps bring about.  The Copenhagen Climate Conference is only weeks away, and we need your help to build off the momentum of October 24  in the final push to this critical event in our planet`s history.

Thank you to everyone who attended!
