I wish I could have been home where we met to write postcards. From the Examiner coverage and the CHEX coverage the event was great. We were more than 170 at the church and an additional 35 or so on the bus. Congratulations to Al and Linda Slavin and all those who helped them, especially Jesse Wright from Trent University who guided our foray into social media. And thanks to Maryam Monsef and Jeff Leal who were on hand to receive the postcards addressed to them. Here’s an update from CHEX TV from the next day.
I was in Ottawa where I spoke at the rally before the march on behalf of For Our Grandchildren. So exciting, the energy of the crowd of 25,000 was invigorating, dynamic, full of young and old. All the Peterborough people I met felt very energized and were glad they made the trip. David Suzuki spoke passionately of the need to direct resources to this difficult problem in the same way that we addressed the second world war – as the emergency that it is. Thanks to Rob Steinman, Roy Brady, and Calvin Duschene who organized the bus that was shared between Trent students and other active citizens. Here is the text of what I said.
We were part of 2000 worldwide events that involved 785,000 people in total.
Congratulations to Peterborough.
