On Friday, September 27, Peterborough joined the rest of the world and the rest of canada to hold it’s biggest climate rally ever when 800 people gathered in Millennium Park to indicate their strong desire for action on climate change from all levels of government. Here’s coverage on Chex and in The Examiner here and here.
After the speeches and music, several hundred marched along George Street stopping to confront federal candidates in their campaign offices demanding that they and their parties commit to bolder action.
Across Canada close to a million people in 241 separate actions joined Climate Strike events, all calling for more ambitious targets and plans to address the climate crisis. Worldwide, close to eight million took part in over 6,000 actions spanning 185 countries.
Here are some photos from the day at the park.
