We were assessing actions taken so far in 4RG in 2019, mostly in collaboration with other groups in Peterborough. It’s quite a list, and the year is not over yet.
- January: Climate Change mitigation proposal to City Council. Result motion to include Climate Change in all decisions, and create a tax-deductible fund for Climate Change action.
- February: Public talk: How Should Climate Change Affect Your Investments talk by Tim Nash (Toronto). (50 people)
- March: CC and Your Health; co-sponsored public meeting with Ptbo Public Health. (60 people)
- April: Facilitated conversations on CC for Nourish Peterborough community dinner. (30 people)
- May: Leaders Luncheon with Dianne Saxe co-sponsored by Ptbo Public Health, City, 4RG (50 people).
- July to September: Information tables at Ptbo Pulse (July), Purple Onion Festival (September), Peterborough Youth Empowerment Climate Forum (September)
- September: Co-organized Global Climate Action day at Millennium Park (800 people)
- September: Worked with City Council on Climate Emergency Declaration plus enhancement of CC actions. Passed unanimously September 23
- October: Care, Hope, Vote Peterborough Public Health campaign: provided infographics on Climate Change
- October: co-organizer of 100 Debates on the Environment (400 people)
- Ongoing: Writing and distribution of about 300 pamphlets on climate change and how to reduce greenhouse gases. Sold about 150 “There is no Planet B” bumper stickers.
- Member contributions: Many letters to the editor; Drew Monkman – 2 Global TV interviews & 4 presentations; Kate Grierson – 11 presentations
