4RG decided to get artsy and collaborate with the First Friday Art Crawl in Peterborough, to create a fun climate action event. The event was called Hope 4 Climate and also coincided with Artsweek Peterborough’s opening ceremonies. These intersecting events offered a plethora of fun and creativity including live music, poetry, and circus performers on stilts dressed as animals, protesting their depleting habitat.
4RG created a film highlighting four inspiring climate success stories: a wind powered train system in the Netherlands, dynamic use of solar panels in agriculture in Kenya, green energy created from waste wood in Teslin Tlingit, and a profits tax for fossil fuel companies in Europe. Read more about the featured stories here.
We also created pre-written postcards to those who hold power in this province voicing our concerns about specific, local climate related issues such as reversing Bill 23, protecting Catchacoma old growth forest, and making Peterborough City Transit buses electric. Over 200 people attended, signed postcards, and took part in the fun!
