Seniors Climate Action Day 2024

4RG is joining with over 40 groups across Canada in Seniors Day of Climate Action to take place on October 1. Join us and other groups at Confederation Square across from City Hall on Oct 1st at 5 PM to help urge the Peterborough Council to properly fund the Climate Action Plan in 2025. There will be several speakers talking about how we can get council to get moving on this important plan.

October 1 is traditionally Seniors’ Day. A new national organization, Seniors For Climate, has
united 400+ communities across Canada to herald October 1 as Seniors Climate Day.
For Our Grandchildren, along with other environmental organizations in Peterborough
(GreenUp, KWIC, YLS, Kawartha Land Trust), is proclaiming Seniors Climate Day as an
opportunity to push our own City Council to move forward on their Climate Change Action
Plan (CCAP) in 2025.
City Council has paid consultants for a new CCAP, but the previous plan in 2016 was shelved
with little financial commitment for its climate change mitigation recommendations. We do not
want to repeat this, the new Climate Change Action Plan is an exciting opportunity to make a
green Peterborough . People in Peterborough must talk to their Ward Councillors and tell them
what we expect.

When: On October 1 at 5 pm
Where: In Confederation Square, across from City Hall
Please come out, and if you can’t attend, give your Ward Councillor a call and discuss how
climate change is effecting you, and what measures you would expect from City Hall.
